Physical Properties Of Polymer

Appearance : Powder-White free flow solid granules.

Applications

Initially mix at a minimum rate of 0.8 kg/m3 of fresh water in mix tank. On smaller projects or highly mobile projects such as power lines may be applied at the point of excavation.

For the best performance of the product the following procedures to be followed​

  • EFFECTIVE SLURRY PRODUCTION: Adequate supply of water of good quality should be available for slurry making and water shall always be available to take care of scheduled operations and unknown contingencies. A tank for storage of water shall be used to ensure sufficient and undisturbed slurry mixing. The pH of water should be adjusted to 11 before adding BT Polymer. For bringing the water pH to the requirement add Sodium Hydroxide in a concentration of 48%@1 ltr per m3 of water DeChlorination chemicals can be used to treat out chlorine if present in water because chlorine destroys all polymer molecules and decreases the viscosity if chlorine content is greater than 3ppm.
  • POLLUTANTS : Slurries with polymer are sensitive to various impurities, which occur in ground water, soil, cement and make-up water. Petroleum hydrocarbons, calcium, acidity, alkalinity, chlorine and sodium chloride are some pollutants that will affect the polymer. The procurement of groundwater samples and the analysis of such samples for pH and pollutants/impurities should be a standard procedure.
  • POLYMER MIXING IN TANK : BT Polymer, Polymer when mixed in tanks shall be added to water that is passed through tube or hopper, across a stationery panel or surface, stirred or agitated, in a manner which avoids the formation of lumps and results in a homogeneous mixture of polymer in water. The polymer slurry may be agitated until required viscosity is developed and particles of partially dissolved polymer for not settle in the bottom. The required viscosity is attained in 30 minutes, Agitation is normally done by blowpipes, motorized stirrers or other suitable and effective means. The mixing tank should be constantly in agitation. Initially add 0.8kg per m3 of BT Polymer to the pH treated water and maintain the slurry’s viscosity>55 seconds for best results. In Case of direct usage at the excavation the application depends upon the soil condition and water supply presenting concentrations of CaCO3. The specific gravity of the fresh mix will be 1 gr/cm3. The slurry’s parameter range from 1.01 to1.04gr/cm3.

ADDITIVES

BT Bond a counterpart product for BT Polymer is recommended to be used when problem arises. The main application is to focus the fluid loss control and helps in stabilization in all soil conditions. The fluid loss is controlled in cohesionless soil, open corals, cobbles, etc. which results in low over-break of concrete, polymer consumption and time required for drilling because of skin friction. The product is directly added at the borehole excavation and the dosage varies depending on the field condition.

Pumping from a borehole is not recommended unless a casing has been placed into a stable stratum which prevents the flow of water from other strata in significant quantities into the boring.
